Neobux Update:
October 29 -2011

From Neobux Admin:

We're proud to introduce AdAlert: A new and effective way of getting advertisement notifications.

As most of you know, I was always against the implementation of a ToolBar for NeoBux.
It's an awkward, excessively big, and extremely outdated thing. We're known for innovation and the ToolBar wasn't. In any case, the ToolBar was introduced temporarily a few months back to give us time to develop our own extension and for users to get to know what AdAlert would be.

Our extension takes almost no space at all because it's just an icon. It will give you the same information (new advertisements and balances) without taking space from your browser. All features of the ToolBar are integrated in our extension such as the notification sounds.

The extension provides a new feature which is the desktop notification which, depending on the browser and/or operating system, will display a popup notification for new advertisements for those that don't have the browser window opened or can't play sounds. It can be enabled or disabled in your personal settings. The icon will also animate when new advertisement are available.

Each browser has features and / or limitations that will make AdAlert look and behave a little differently between them but the end result will always be the same.

Our unique browser extension is called AdAlert and is available for all major browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera). Currently it's not available for Internet Explorer.

Our old ToolBar will still work for a few days to allow you to switch to AdAlert comfortably. In a few days it will only work with Internet Explorer. I suggest that during this phase you do not run both the ToolBar and AdAlert simultaneously as you may get blocked for security reasons.

AdAlert will feature faster notifications (it will be tuned during the first days according to activity).
The download size, depending on the browser, will be only between 50kb and 500kb which is much lower than the old ToolBar.

Go ahead and try it out. I've personally been trying it for the past 2 months and it clearly showed me that last century's technology is boring and that AdAlert is the way to go. I've found AdAlert amazingly addictive and I hope you'll find it to.

Please be aware that, although it works, there are still a few bugs that need to be addressed mostly due to browser limitations.
The minimum version required for Firefox is v3.6 and for Opera is v11.50. It will work with any version of Safari and Chrome.
Currently Opera and Safari don't support the desktop notification feature and Safari for windows will fail to update the logged in / logged out status until restarted (this is an actual bug in Safari for windows).

Updates can either be manually or automatically installed by your browser which means you'll always have the latest version available. Features and/or bug fixes will be transparently delivered to you.

You can find the download page by clicking on the "AdAlert" link at the bottom of each page of NeoBux.
Besides the know bugs/limitations mentioned earlier, please post anything weird you find or something you love about it.

Have fun!
